With cooler temperatures and smaller crowds, spring is a great time to treat yourself and your family to a European getaway. Whether you are after the sun, ski, or culture, our Private Jets team have selected some of their favorite European travel spots for the season.
If you are more of a snow bunny than a sun-worshipper, why not head to Verbier? Not only does it boast some of the Alps’ most challenging terrain for more seasoned skiers, the opening of two lift connections last year has made it much easier to explore the rest of the Four Valleys, so make sure to check out Bruson, Siviez and Nendaz too.

For an Easter getaway, Seville’s celebrations are known throughout the world, as tens of thousands of people gather to take part in the religious processions. The atmosphere at this time is electric but if you would rather avoid the crowds, the southern city is still a fantastic option any time from March onwards: the temperature starts to pick up, making it a lovely time of year to explore the many sights, such as the Alcázar castle complex and the Gothic Seville Cathedral – the site of Christopher Columbus’ tomb.

As the birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence is an obvious choice for the culture vultures among you, with art, history and breath-taking architecture at every turn. It may be slightly cooler in the early spring, but it’s worth visiting at this time to avoid the hordes of tourists and explore at a more relaxed pace – without the hours of queuing! As well as taking in all the obvious sights – the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo to name but a couple – make sure to spend time off the beaten track as well, such as in the Oltrarno district, the artists’ quarter.

A winning combination of quaint medieval town and beach resort, it’s no surprise that Dubrovnik has become a go-to destination. We recommend going in May, after temperatures start to climb but before the summer crowds descend. The city’s main draw is the pedestrian old-town, but there are numerous other attractions to be found if you wander further afield: take a short boat trip over to the forested island of Lokrum and drive out to the Walls of Ston, the longest fortress system in Europe.

A city that needs no introduction, Venice is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. As well as taking in the sights of the famous St Mark’s Square, visit the Cannaregio district to experience a slice of the “real” Venice away from the crowds. Art lovers should head here in April to be one of the first in line to see Damien Hirst’s long-awaited exhibition at Punta della Dogana and Palazzo Grassi, which opens on the 9th.

Lisbon has massively grown in popularity in recent years and it’s not hard to see why: in addition to the impressive architecture, picturesque pastel colored houses and historical landmarks, the city also has a thriving nightlife and an array of beautiful sandy beaches. It’s a fantastic place to visit from March onwards, when it starts getting warmer and dryer – it isn’t called the Sunshine Capital for nothing!
