To get you thinking about this season's ski trip, we've provided a handful of top European ski destinations for the private jet traveller.
Flying by private jet gives you access to smaller airports that you may not be able to access using a scheduled flight; allowing you to cut travel time by avoiding check-in queues, reducing your car journey to the resort, and enabling more direct fight plans.
Val Thorens is the highest resort in Europe and has some of the nicest hotels in France. An aircraft can fly to either Chambéry or Geneva, which will take you two hours away from your Val Thorens chalet. Luxury travellers can arrange a helicopter to pick them up from the runway to a landing pad located up the mountain in Val Thorens.
Located in North Spain, Baqueira is a renowned ski resort for the experienced skiers. The resort is riddled with black pistes for expert riders to test their ability. Flights can be made to Toulouse, which is 2 ½ hours’ drive away from the resort, Lourdes is only 1 hour 50 minutes away but is usually accessed by private jets.
Alpe D'Huez reaches altitudes of 3,330 and the top station, Pic Blanc, delivers breath-taking views. On a clear day you will be able to see a fifth of France from this area of the French Alps. The resort is only a 1 hour 40 minute drive away from Chambéry airport or helicopter transfers from the airport can be arranged.
Skiing in Sweden is renowned to be effortlessly cool, with less British tourists than the French Alps. The mountain is full of elegant skiers with embarrassingly well spoken English. There is a friendly atmosphere on the mountain and many freestyle riders attend the mountain as there is a lot of trust and freedom in skiers. Åre is a great place to ski for mixed ability riders, the Swedish resort is located 1 hour 12 minute drive away from Åre Ostersund Airport.
This Austrian ski resort is growing in popularity, it has a diverse ski terrain and an exciting après-ski atmosphere. The resort is 1 hour 40 minutes from Salzburg airport and is famous for eccentric circus events. The atmosphere at the resort is very lively, with lots of laughter, dancing and plenty of alcoholic drinks. The city centre has a charming character, decorated by stylish shops and cafés which help create a homely vibe for the town’s guests.
