The Malaysian and Japanese Grands Prix are just around the corner, and Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are still locked in a fierce race to become the 2016 Formula One World Champion. Once again, the rivalry between the two teams has been the main talking point of the season, and it has led to more than one collision between the pair.
Hamilton and Rosberg have so far avoided any major damage, but clashes and crashes are par for the course in motor racing – which is why a number of F1 racing teams have Air Partner on standby. Only earlier this season, the UK Freight team was called upon to urgently deliver a large car replacement part - along with a team member and additional equipment - from the UK to Budapest ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
There were not many suitable aircraft available that could carry a passenger and have enough space for the car part and extra luggage – while also being in the client’s budget. However, due to its extensive network of contacts, the Air Partner Freight team was able to locate a suitable Metroliner in Northern Europe.
The client was happy with the solution so the Air Partner team immediately instructed the aircraft to re-position into London Biggin Hill Airport for a quick pit stop, while the passenger and cargo also made their way there. Air Partner sent a representative to meet the passenger at the airport and to ensure that the shipment was loaded safely and securely, ready for take-off.
The flight landed in Budapest the same day that it had been contracted, which meant that the engineering team were able to start work first thing in the morning: ultimately there was no disruption to the schedule and the car was raring to go for the race.
