Explore the wonders of India for your next group event

Air Partner - 07 Nov 2018

Experience India for your next conference or incentive with Air Partner TMC using one of our preferred partners, Virgin Atlantic.

India is becoming increasingly popular within the MICE industry, with new and improved infrastructure and technology to host a whole range of conference and events for groups of any size. India has one of the fastest growing economies which has enhanced India’s MICE offering, giving clients much more for their money.

Here is our ultimate guide to the Golden Triangle - Delhi, Agra and Jaipur to help inspire you for your next event:

Delhi

Start your journey by flying your group directly to Delhi (Indira Gandhi International Airport ) with Virgin Atlantic and have your Rupees at the ready…

For sheer sensory overload, nothing tops Delhi. From the taste of Mughlai cuisine to the spectacle of the Red Fort; from the sounds of bhangra to the feel of the silk. While the capital of India prides itself on respecting the past, with strong traditions in arts, crafts and dance, it’s also proudly modern, with funky fashion and fabulous shopping. Its architectural marvels, cosmopolitan nightlife and diversity of dining makes Delhi an extraordinary destination for your next event.

Delhi has lots of activities for your groups to experience and enjoy. For a fun filled day trip, start in Old Delhi and take your groups through the buzzing markets of Chandni Chowk, keeping an eye out for bargains and bracing yourself to haggle. Take a breather at the Red Fort, an impressive structure built in the 17th century and finish out with a snapshot of the Lotus Temple. Like a shy Sydney Opera House, the floral temple is spectacular, strange and very Delhi.

Another interesting monument to visit is the Qutab Minar, an iconic cylindrical tower from the 12th century and now a UNESCO Heritage site. At 72 metres, it is the tallest brick minaret in the world.

Delhi is the perfect place to sample Mughlai cuisine, a local style of cooking with strong Persian influences. Bukhara restaurant offers world-class frontier cuisine with private dining for larger groups (up to 30 guests). Considered one of the best restaurants in the world, its signature dishes include Sikandari Raan (marinated whole leg of spring lamb).

Of course Delhi is a vast, cosmopolitan city, so don’t be afraid to sample the Modern European cuisine of Smoke House Grill or the variety of dishes on offer at the Hauz Khas food village. And if you’re sightseeing and need a quick snack, try a tandoori chicken from a roadside dhaba.

MICE Facilities:

Popular for its close proximity to the airport, Aerocity is home to well-known hotels such as Novotel and JW Marriott. All hotels offer a selection on conference and meetings spaces to facilitate events of any size.

Aerocity has great transport links with just a short walk to the Metro station, connecting your groups to all tourist attractions, shopping malls, New Delhi Railway Station and the National Bus Station.

 Taj MahalAgra

From Delhi, experience the great Indian rail experience by riding the Gatimaan Express to Agra.

Your group will enjoy spending the morning visiting the exquisite Taj Mahal. The best known and most visited monument in India and now amongst one of the new 7 wonders of the world. It is often described as the most extravagant monuments ever built for love. The Taj Mahal took 22 years to build and in total 20,000 people worked on the Taj. Now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site it’s definitely one to cross off the bucket list.

Make sure you book an expert to show you around the Taj Mahal, various group tours are available for both small and large groups.

MICE Facilities:

The regal Jaypee Palace Hotel and Convention Centre is utilised for a whole host of events throughout the year. The Hotel is a glorious structural blend of red sandstone and marble spread over an abundant 25 acres of elegantly landscaped greenery. It can hold up to 1500 delegates in theatre style and is flexible enough to customize a combination of meeting and exhibition areas.

Jaipur

The last city your group will enjoy is Jaipur. This 250 year old city is a startling blend of forts and palaces, of teeming markets, shops and transport of every kind, from cars to camels!

Jaipur today, is the capital of Rajasthan with a population of over 1 ½ million people. Jaipur is called the “Pink City”, for by law, all the buildings in the old city must be painted a deep saffron-pink. It is especially known for its arts and crafts: jewellery, enamel work, hand-painted fabrics and stone sculptures.

Above everything, Jaipur is an extraordinary colourful place. On its streets you see women in their brilliant red and orange head coverings and sweeping skirts, and men in their equally vivid turbans and upturned moustaches.

Take an afternoon to discover the excitement and colours of Jaipur’s markets on rickshaws, travelling up narrow and winding lanes comprising of jewellers, spice merchants, food stalls and shopping arcades this list is endless.

MICE Facilities:

Your groups can take advantage of a variety of unique experiences whilst visiting Jaipur. Small groups can try their hand at camel polo, situated in the foothills of the Jaipur mountain ranges, groups can participate in several “chukkahs” of the game.

For medium sized groups why not enhance your culinary skills and partake in an Indian cookery class, making and indulging the local cuisine for a mass Indian feast.

Larger groups can enjoy an evening of culture, by learning how to dress in Indian traditional dress attire. Tailors will take your measurements and dress you in unique Indian outfits; “salwar – kameez” tailored for ladies and a “kurta – pyjama” tailored for men.
