Discover the French Riviera

Explore the French Riviera like never before with these out of the ordinary private tours

With its balmy weather, beautiful scenery and laidback lifestyle, the south of France is a major holiday destination.Glitz and glamour can be found aplenty in seaside hotspots such as Cannes, Nice and Monte Carlo as well as captivating medieval towns and villages in the hinterland – St-Paul de Vence, Grasse, Mougins – and ravishing views from the hilltop village of Eze. One of the most eagerly awaited events in the Côte d'Azur's social calendar is the Cannes Film Festival in early May. The Monaco Grand Prix is another ritzy highlight in the same month. A more low-key alternative is the Nice Jazz Festival which this year takes place from 17 to 21 July. But there is much more to do and experience in this stunning part of the world.

We have teamed up with Andy Swann, from Andy Swann Voyage to provide you with out-of-the-ordinary opportunities to explore the French Riviera and enhance your Air Partner experience beyond your private jet.

A day of... history and discovery

Arrive at Aix-en-Provence and enjoy a private guided walking tour through the old town of Aix, the art city of Paul Cézanne. Discover the Provencal way of life strolling by the fountains, admiring the old buildings and classical architecture as well as old Provencal churches. Aix-en-Provence is a canvas of joyful impressions, of colourful festivals, festivities and traditions, Provencal markets, delicious sun-filled delicacies, walks in the countryside and relaxing activities. No visit to Aix is complete without a trip to Les Deux Garçons, the city's legendary brasserie known informally as the 2Gs. Paul Cézanne came here on occasion to enjoy a very leisurely three-hour apéritif with his friend, the novelist Emile Zola. Very many other famous names have enjoyed a glass here too, including Picasso, Churchill, Mistanguett, Edith Piaf, Jean-Paul Sartre, Alain Delon, Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Cocteau. After lunch, we will drive you out of Aix -en Provence along the famous panoramic ‘Cézanne’s road’ to the Mountain of Sainte Victoire which inspired over 40 of Cézanne’s paintings.

A day of... discovering hidden local gems

The allure of the French Riviera and the Côte d’Azur has long been acknowledged by garden enthusiasts throughout the world. British travellers in particular have been spellbound by the exotic perfumes and colours, many settling here to create gardens of distinction. In this exclusive tour we visit one of these remarkable gardens, La Mouisson. Meet with Lady Lockett for a curated two hour private walk. This unusual olive grove has its trees placed across several steep terraces overlooking the surrounding countryside down to the sea at La Napoule, Cannes and Antibes. The exceptional longevity of the olive tree gives it a unique appearance. The twisted trunks speak of the strength necessary to overcome the constraints linked to the arid and poor soils of the area. This unique experience includes an olive oil tasting and preparation experience with Lady Lockett plus a three course lunch, with wine, hosted by Lady Lockett.

A day of... winter experiences

The Rivera boasts great access to two of the greatest truffle areas in the world, Carpentras (France) and Alba (Northern Italy). From mid-November to early March the weekly truffle market at Carpentras is a fascinating place to visit where the local truffle hunters, and their dogs, mix with well-healed Parisiens in the vibrant market square. The World’s most highly priced White truffles, worth more than their weight in gold, can be found in Alba (Northern Italy), only a three hour car journey from Nice. The southeast of France (in the regions PACA and the department of the Gard) produce 70% of French truffles. In a normal year about 50 tonnes of black truffles are obtained. Enjoy a truly memorable two day truffle tour to either Carpentras or Alba, hunting for truffles with local hunters and their dogs. These two fantastic truffle areas are located in two wonderful wine areas, Alba being in the Barolo wine region of Italy and Carpentras in the acclaimed wine region of the Southern Rhône.
