When it comes to helping our customers globally with aid and relief cargo requirements, we have a large amount of experience delivering supplies and materials to areas impacted from catastrophic damage. Delivering urgent freight via charter is something that we are well versed in, with a global network and a 24/7 support team, we are always available to offer you a reliable service to meet your deadlines.

We aim to respond within 20 minutes of your request to ensure any relief goods, medical or other equipment will reach their destination as soon as possible.

One size doesn’t always fit all, so we have highlighted some examples of three of our biggest and most extensive air charter client requests that we have supported, spanning across natural disasters, medical emergencies, and political unrests.

Case Study 1: Super Typhoon Yutu 2018

Challenge: Our US Freight team was called upon by our client to deliver a wide array of supplies, equipment, vehicles and tools to rebuild Saipan Island after Super Typhoon Yutu. Typhoon Yutu was a category 5 “violent and catastrophic” Typhoon that hit the island of Saipan and Rota directly in late October. Yutu became the strongest tropical cyclone to ever impact the Mariana Islands and the second strongest to strike the United States or its territories as a whole.

Solution: We operated a total of 28 flights within a period of 3 weeks to Saipan using AN124 and B747F aircrafts. Due to the urgent nature and in order for these operations to run as smoothly as possible, we also positioned an Air Partner account representative on the island of Guam to coordinate the organization and delivery of all cargo from the appointed government agency on the island and all aircraft loading and operations.

Case Study 2: Ebola Crisis 2014 - 2015

Challenges: Since the outbreak of Ebola in March 2014 until the end of the crisis in November 2015, numerous NGO’s, governments and aid agencies reached out to Air Partner to help provide the affected regions (Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia) with relief goods via cargo charter. The highly contagious nature of Ebola made the provision of aid extremely difficult, particularly from a logistical perspective as huge parts of the airports were closed and the ground crew were not allowed to enter the aircraft for off loading.

Solution: Air Partner worked closely with our clients to provide the affected regions with vital supplies. Due to the volume of cargo available to move at that time various types of cargo aircraft from AN12 to B747-400F were used. The freight team operated a total of 128 flights between Europe, the United States, Middle East and Freetown, Sierra Leone and Monrovia, Liberia. At the peak of the crisis the group was operating flights every 48 hours carrying cargo of medical equipment and supplies, vehicles, construction materials and protective clothing. The team were also responsible for transporting plasma using refrigerated temperature controlled envirotainers.

In total we flew 3,400 tons of aid for our clients across 128 flights which included 150 ambulances, over 1400 beds, more than a million safety suits, a whole 92 bed medical treatment facility; including ambulances, tents, generators, air conditioning units, lighting sets, blankets, tarpaulins, sleeping pads, water tanks, jerry cans, generators and tents. Air Partner was able to use its extensive experience to provide air charters in the face of these highly challenging circumstances and the cargo on these flights was essential in the fight against Ebola.

Having an extensive network of relationships and working around the clock, allowed us to best service our customer and secure flight permits for landing overseas to ensure the shipments were delivered rapidly.

Case Study 3: Japan Earthquake and Tsunami 2011

Challenge: Our clients were required to send specialist equipment to Tokyo to help with aid support in the aftermath of the Tsunami in 2011. Air Partner were tasked with transporting 145 tons of humanitarian equipment to Japan which consisted of urgently needed goods -  water, face masks, protective suits, blankets, food, respirators and anti-radiation medication. As well as specialist equipment for relief teams such as pumps, compressors, generators, dosimeters and radiometers.

Solution: In order to transport the enormous amount of relief required to reach Tokyo, an AN225 was chartered; the largest aircraft in the world. It allowed us to transport the goods in the shortest time-frame, in one journey. The charter departed for Tokyo Narita Airport from Chateauroux Airport, south of Paris. The flight departed on the Sunday and one of our dedicated account managers from Air Partner spent the weekend at the airport finalising all the logistics that were required to ensure that the flight was successful.
