Malaga has an abundance of history, is culturally rich with access to chic boutiques, waterfront dining and many beaches to choose from. The so-called ‘mile of art’ is now comparable to Madrid with new museums opening and access to Picasso and Thyssen museums, as well as the contemporary Centre Pompidou. Home to some of the best Mediterranean cuisine on offer, there is plenty to see and do in this historic city out of season. If you are visiting in the festive period, the Christmas decorations brighten the city there is a traditional Christmas market held in Piazza Santa Croce. There is also plenty to do outside of the festive season. Whilst the Uffizi and Accademia Gallery will still prove popular attractions, even outside of the main tourist season, museums such as the Grande Museo del Duomo and Palazzo Strozzi should offer a much calmer experience. An iconic shopping destination offering the very best of ‘Made in Italy’, Florence sales start around Epiphany and are worth taking advantage of.
