Aircraft on Ground? When every minute counts...

Air Partner - 14 giu 2017

Aircraft on the Ground situations (AOG) are a huge logistical nightmare (and potentially costly) issue for airlines. Grounded aircraft can cause fleet-wide disruptions directly impacting an airlines route schedules and can have much wider implications to an airlines reputation.

Air Partner was contacted by a Spanish client over the bank holiday weekend, when the routine maintenance on their APU unit encountered problems. The client approached Air Partner to scope possible options and availability as a pre-emptive measure. Due to the oversized nature of the APU unit, Air Partner advised that a ramp loaded aircraft would be required and initiated the market search, keeping the client constantly well-informed of possible solutions, timelines and costs.

Due to ongoing delays the situation became critical and was escalated to a full AOG scenario a few days later. The Air Partner team sourced a regional solution and positioned the Antonov 26 to Dublin 4hrs after client confirmation. Air Partners operations team carefully monitored the flight, relaying information to the client to ensure they had full visibility of the operation. The AN-26 arrived in Madrid where it was met by the designated handling agent who were requested to offload alongside the client’s affected B757. Their aircraft was flying 48 hours later avoiding a potentially lengthy delay going into the long weekend.
