Last year we explored some of the more unusual city breaks to fly to by private jet with your loved one for Valentine’s Day. This year, we have reverted to more classic ideas – Paris, Florence and Verbier.
You may think they are cliché, but their offering, diversity and beauty are what makes them some of the most romantic places to visit with your loved one – plus they are close enough that you can fly there and back by private jet in a day. A day in Paris by private jet
Just a stone’s throw away – or an hour’s flight by private jet – Paris is the perfect destination for a day of culture, good food and a little romance. With everything in the centre of Paris in such close proximity, you can squeeze a lot into one day. Start with a wander in the Jardin des Tuileries and stop off for a gaze at Monet’s Water Lilies at the Musée de l’Orangerie, or cross the river for the magnificent sculptures at the Musée d’Orsay. Walk to Place de la Concorde for a glimpse of the Champs Élysées and veer off to the quieter streets around l’église de la Madeleine. You can share a morning pastry at Fauchon, or if you prefer a spot of shopping you’re not too far from the famed Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris provides a cultural interlude and you can also climb to the top for a panoramic view of the city skyline. The surrounding area of the Sorbonne gives you more of a feel for the Paris of Sartre and de Beauvoir, particularly as you venture further west towards St Germain des Pres where you can visit the the watering holes of artists, writers and philosophers – Les Deux Magots and Café de Flores. If you’re looking for a little more hustle and bustle in the evening, Opéra can offer you a lively end to your day before your fly home.

A lunch date in Florence by private jet
Home to some of the best Mediterranean cuisine on offer, Italy is an obvious choice for a romantic lunch date. Escape to the mountains by private jet
For a slightly more adventurous day, surprise your loved one with a trip up to the mountains. With a flight time of just 1 hour 20 minutes from London to Sion and a 45 minute transfer to Verbier, you can be at altitude in no time. Spend the morning off piste and stop for a hot chocolate with mountain views at Ice Cube – the infamous seasonnaire pit-stop.
